Hey there, time traveller!

No player availability for the Bombers (4-1) until Monday, so head coach Paul LaPolice provided the lone team update heading into the long weekend:
ON BUCK PIERCE: The coach says his starting quarterback is fine, and expects him to be back on the field next week. The club is calling Pierce’s injury a left calf strain, but whispers are starting to surface that Pierce had his bell rung Thursday, thanks to the big hit from Lions LB Solomon Elimimian.
ON OTHER INJURIES: Thursday’s win took its toll on the club, but most of the injuries are of the minor variety. DB Jovon Johnson (ankle); SB Terrence Edwards (calf); and WR Cory Watson (knee) all had to leave the game at some point. WR Greg Carr (leg) and DE Jason Vega (knee) should be in full practice mode on Monday. Linebacker Henoc Muamba is still three weeks away from playing.
ON QB ALEX BRINK STEPPING IN: “You got to be ready to go — I don’t care who it is. Injuries happen and you have to be ready to go. Teams can’t survive in the CFL if other guys (can’t step up). Nobody’s going to be healthy all year long, so you have to fight through that. We’ve had that for two years now.”
ON THE DELAY OF GAME PENALTY: The one before the two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, remember? It happened because LaPolice had tried to use a timeout he didn’t have, forgetting that he burnt it earlier in the half during a situation where the QB communication device wasn’t working. “Inexcusable,” he said.
ON RICHARD HARRIS: A memorial for the former Bombers coach is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Immanuel Pentecostal Church (955 Wilkes Ave.). The service begins at 2 p.m.
The club is expecting a lot of people from around the league to attend. No decision has been made on whether it will be open to the public.
Harris, the club’s assistant head coach, died of a massive heart attack on July 26.
