Bombers QB Max Hall on a Winnipeg win not many saw coming:

“I’m not going to lie. That feels really good. We hung in there and battled like hell all the way to the end. The defence came up with some big turnovers that translated into points, especially in the first half. And offensively we made some big plays and we kept ourselves in the game and sealed it down the stretch. I was proud of our guys — with our backs against the wall, we hung in there all the way to the end and got a win. It says a lot about the guys we have and the team going forward.”

Hall, when informed his team’s playoff hopes still depend on his club winning all three of their remaining regular season games and having Montreal lose all three of their remaining games:

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”

Bombers head coach Tim Burke on what Monday’s win says about the character of his 3-12 team:

“It says a lot, and I’ve been saying that all year long. We’ve had great practices, our spirits have been up, and they’ve fought hard in every game. I’m so happy for them that they could fight hard and win a game like this. There were parts of the game where it would be easy to give up, but they never had any thought of giving up and they never have at any point this year.”

So what now, Burke was asked:

“It gives the team confidence. Like I told them at the beginning of the week, chances are we’re not going to make the playoffs. We’re gonna try, obviously, but let’s use the last four weeks to get better as individual players and get better gaining experience in the CFL because we’re such a young team so that next year when you go out there you’ve experienced all these situations and they’re not new to you anymore. And just go out there and have fun.”

Burke on how a Bombers running game that had registered just 10 yards through the first three quarters erupted for 88 yards in the fourth, including a critical 69-yard romp by tailback Will Ford:

“That’s just the way it goes sometimes. They did a good job of blocking it, and Will did a good job seeing it. I think that cut was there for him earlier in the game and he just didn’t see it. They must have told him, ‘Hey, look to cut it all the way back,’ and he did.”

Bombers tailback Will Ford on what led to an extended shouting match between him and Als linebacker Chip Cox in the third quarter:

“It was no big deal. It was just football. He put a name out there that he called me that I didn’t take too well to. But we squashed it — it’s football. That’s what we do out there — we have fun, we talk a little trash.”

“He called me a female dog.”

Bombers linebacker Ian Wild on what role a humiliating performance by the Bombers defence in Calgary in Week 15 played in a vastly improved effort on Monday:

“It definitely lit a fire under us during practice, and we had a lot of things we needed to fix and gave us something to work on. We showed today that we improved from last week.”
