- Made his first NHL start on Dec. 1, 2000 in a game against Chicago
- Once made 74 saves for the Milwaukee Admirals in a playoff game, an IHL record
- Mason was credited for a goal on April 15, 2006 when Phoenix Coyotes forward Geoff Sanderson shot the puck into his own net. Mason became the ninth NHL goaltender to score a goal and joined Damian Rhodes
- as the only goalies to be credited with a goal in both the AHL and the NHL
- Played for Norway’s Valerengen — along with then-teammate Scott Hartnell — during the lockout season of 2004-05. Led team to championship and was named top goalie and playoff MVP
- Has played for Canada at three world championships (2006, 2007, 2009), winning gold in 2007 and silver in 2009
- Lists a career in law enforcement as his calling if he wasn’t playing hockey
- First job was as a paper boy

Signed as a free agent by Florida on Aug. 20, 2002. Claimed by Nashville from Florida in the 2003 NHL Waiver Draft on Oct. 3, 2003. Acquired by St. Louis from Nashville for a fourth-round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on June 19, 2008. Signed by the Thrashers as a free agent on July 1, 2010.
