About the Jets: Now 3-1 on their current road swing, their longest of the season, after shutting out the Islanders 3-0 Thursday night… Have won consecutive games for the first time this season and consecutive road contests for the first time since victories over Carolina and Philadelphia last March 9-12… In the first game minus Tobias Enstrom (broken collarbone), Dustin Byfuglien (23:40), Zach Bogosian (22:54) and Johnny Oduya (22:07) led Jets’ defencemen in ice time… Ondrej Pavelec’s shutout against the Isles was the seventh in his career. The franchise leader is Kari Lehtonen with 14.
About the Devils: New Jersey snapped a three-game losing skid with a 4-3 shootout win over Philadelphia on Thursday… Devils leading scorer is Patrik Elias, who has 10 points (5G, 5A), including two PP goals and one short-handed… Former Thrasher Ilya Kovalchuk has just two goals in 11 games and is minus-5. After leaving Thursday’s game against Philadelphia in the third period with a lower-body injury his status for tonight’s game is uncertain… NJ’s top line features Kovalchuk, Zach Parise and rookie Adam Henrique, who combined for two goals and three assists in the win over Philly… Future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur is scheduled to start in goal.
About the Rangers: Knocked off Anaheim 2-1 in a shootout on Thursday and play host to the Canadiens tonight — their sixth consecutive home game after opening with seven straight on the road… Marc Staal has missed 11 games after being put on injured reserve because of a concussion… Master shift disturber Sean Avery will suit up for the Rangers against the Habs, replacing Wojtek Wolski (groin) in the lineup… Big free-agent addition Brad Richards (3G, 6A) was tied for the team lead in scoring with Marian Gaborik heading into the Montreal game.
