About the Jets: Team is 3-3-2 since starting its longest road trip of the season on Oct. 27, and is coming off a disappointing 5-2 loss to Florida at home on Thursday…Winnipeg, now 5-8-3, gave up two more power-play goals on Thursday, plus a six-on-five goal while a delayed penalty was being called….Tonight’s game is the team’s 12th on the road this season, highest in the NHL…G Chris Mason was reactivated from the IR on Friday. He was hurt in the Oct. 27 game in Philadelphia. G Peter Mannino was sent back to AHL St. John’s on Friday.
About the Blue Jackets: Off to a disastrous start of 2-12-1…Coming off a 6-3 home-ice loss to Chicago on Thursday…Tonight’s game marks the teams’ only meeting of the season and is between two of the NHL’s worst defensive clubs. The Jets have given up 56 goals, the Jackets 59….In his fifth game after being acquired in the off-season blockbuster trade with the Flyers, C Jeff Carter suffered a broken foot. He hasn’t played since. Carter appeared to be fast-tracking towards a return this week, didn’t play on Thursday but may play tonight…Columbus made a late trade Thursday, dealing D Kris Russel to St. Louis for D Nikita Nikitin.
