Noel gets bobbleheaded

SUNDAY was Andrew Ladd bobblehead night, with the first 10,000 fans through the doors receiving vouchers to collect their nodding replica doll.

But Ladd isn’t the only member of the Jets in bobblehead country this month.

Left-winger Evander Kane was honoured in Vancouver two weeks ago when his former WHL team gave away bobbleheads in his likeness.

And this coming Friday, the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals will have a Claude Noel bobblehead night to honour their former player and head coach.

Noel joked with reporters Sunday about the event, teasing them to find out where and when it would be.

“Yes I have (a bobblehead) and there is one coming in another week in another location,” Noel smiled. “You’ve got to figure that out.”

“I think it looks pretty good.”

Meech here for treatment

DEFENCEMAN Derek Meech remains in Winnipeg to receive treatment on his injured knee.

He was hurt just three games after being assigned to the St. John’s IceCaps in late January.

He had played two early-season games for the Jets before a painful knee required some surgery.

Meech is on the IceCaps playoff roster and it’s believed he’ll return to action before the end of the AHL regular season.

Recent IceCaps acquisition Brock Trotter of Brandon has also been in Winnipeg for medical attention. His upper-body injury has kept him out since being acquired at the AHL’s roster-freeze deadline from the Portland Pirates, but he, too, is on the St. John’s playoff roster and is expected back soon. He has returned to St. John’s.
