AT PNC ARENA
Big picture
The Jets fought back for the win and have now won four of their last 11. Winnipeg’s season has been very uneven with a slow start, a solid December, a rough January followed by a strong February and now a March swoon. Consistency is a major issue for the Jets looking towards next season.
Little picture
Winnipeg took a while to get started but erased a third-period deficit to force ovetime and then win on Andrew Ladd’s overtime silencer.
Bogo bouncer
Hurricanes forward Anthony Stewart challenged Jets defenceman Zach Bogosian to a first-period fight but it amounted to little more than a wrestling match. Stewart was attempting to exact some revenge on Bogosion for his hit on Andrea Nodl in the teams’ last meeting. Bogosian stepped up and crushed Nodl inside the Carolina blueline and the hit was high and reviewed by the NHL although not deemed a suspendable act. Nodl has not played since the hit.
Mason’s minutes
Veteran goalie Chris Mason got his first start in 14 games after Ondrej Pavelec started 13 straight for the Jets. Expect Pavelec to start tonight in Tampa and then Mason to get action in either Miami or Long Island next week with Pavelec drawing in for the finale in Winnipeg against the Lighting next Saturday.
