— The Bombers aren’t mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture just yet, but the odds are piling up against them.

In order to qualify as a crossover team through the West, Winnipeg would need to win its final three games to finish 7-11 and then hope the Eskimos and Lions go 1-2 down the stretch to wind up 6-12.

Here’s a look at the remaining games:

B.C. (5-10): at Calgary; vs. Saskatchewan; at Hamilton.

Edmonton (5-10): vs. Saskatchewan; vs. Winnipeg; at Saskatchewan.

Winnipeg (4-11): vs. Toronto; at Edmonton; vs. Calgary.

— SPREAD THE BLAME AROUND: Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice wasn’t pointing the finger of blame at QB Steven Jyles for the two interceptions he tossed Sunday.

“Some of it’s on Steven, but some of it’s on the receivers, some of it’s on the offensive line and some of it’s on the offensive staff,” said LaPolice. “We’re all together in this. We’ve got to do a better job against a good defence.

“I don’t believe the interception was his fault. Put it this way, it shouldn’t have been an interception if our receiver (Brock Ralph) was in the right spot… he can at least knock the ball down. Their safety came off the hash, we tried to move him as much as we could, but he came off the hash and made a play. But our receiver turned away from the ball.

“And the other one he was hit as he threw the ball.”

— NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY: The Bombers were nailed for nine penalties totalling 82 yards with seven of those infractions coming in the fourth quarter — including an unnecessary roughness penalty to Alex Suber after he got into a dust-up with Alouettes linebacker Chip Cox.

“When you see it, (Suber) gets cold-cocked and his mouthpiece is knocked out,” said LaPolice. “I know he reacted. Chip Cox knocked it out and that’s when the melee started. I spoke with the players the day of the game about controlling your emotions, but that’s a tough one to control your emotions when no flag is thrown and he gets literally nailed in the head. But he’s got to be smarter.”

— WRONG WAY BOMBERS: Fred Reid rushed for 52 yards on eight carries in the first half, but had just two touches in the final 30 minutes for minus five yards… Winnipeg ran just 10 offensive plays in the third quarter and managed only 11 net yards.

The Alouettes countered with a touchdown and 84 yards.

Ouch update

The Bombers emerged from Sunday’s loss relatively healthy, although LB Clint Kent — who finished the game — will be having his triceps muscle further examined today.

Strange but true

The Bombers, seven games under .500, have scored four more points than they’ve surrendered (411-407). By comparison, the Argos — 7-8 — have been out-scored 393-286.

Rogers Sportsnet is reporting former Bomber linebacker Ike Charlton, cut by the club this summer, is about to join the Als practice roster as insurance for their Grey Cup run.
