The Winnipeg Blue Bombers rolled out the welcome mat this morning.

The CFL club officially announced the return of QB Justin Goltz.

Goltz, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound pivot out of Occidental College, first joined the club last October. He was immediately placed on the active roster, third on the depth chart.

Goltz was a late release at the 2011 training camp, but re-joins the team after backup QB Joey Elliott was placed on the nine-game injured list. Elliott suffered a season-ending knee injury in Thursday’s loss to Calgary.

Speaking of quarterbacks, second-year man Alex Brink saw most of the work at practice today. Starter Buck Pierce, who’s dealing with what the team is calling a left thigh bruise, did do some throwing but he was more of a spectator.

The team also signed defensive end Shawn Lemon. Lemon, a 6-foot-1, 238-pound import out of Akron, was selected as a All-MAC second team all-star as a senior last season.

Finally, WR/KR Tim Brown has been taken off the retired list. He was on the field, as the club went through a light workout in preparation for the Toronto Argonauts Saturday.
