About the Jets
The Jets have lost five of six and crashed out of the playoff picture. Winnipeg has just 12 road wins on the season and four of the last five will be played on the road. Veterans Chris Thorburn and Nik Antropov are expected to make the trip with Thorburn potentially in the lineup. Newcomer Spencer Machacek has seven points in six games, including his first two NHL goals. Veteran goalie Chris Mason has only seen action in a relief appearance over the last four weeks but will likely get the start tonight.
About the Canes
Carolina has been much better under new coach Kirk Muller since he took over for Paul Maurice. The Canes are 31-31-15 on the season. Players to watch include all-star centre Eric Staal, sniper Jeff Skinner, rookie blueliner Justin Falk and netminder Cam Ward. Carolina has won two straight at home.
