Hey there, time traveller!

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I’m a single guy with a few girlfriends attached to each need I have. There’s the friendship pal who always goes to functions with me. It helps that she’s really good-looking. We have sex occasionally. Then I have the really hot girl who thinks I’m a nerd, except in bed. I am a nerd, so she only makes booty calls from the bar, and I’m all right with that action. My third girlfriend is more my style, but she’s still hung up on her ex.
Do you think it’s time I looked for a wife? My mom does. I am 31 and she tells me frequently that she wants grandchildren. How do I go about getting that serious with someone? Do I have to clear the decks before I can honestly date a woman who might become my wife? I’m afraid to get rid of anybody. What if it’s a whole year before I find The One. I’ll be going crazy!
— Afraid To Cut Everybody Loose, Osborne Village
Dear Afraid To Cut: At least open yourself to finding The One. Start dating with a view to getting rid of everyone else if somebody special comes along. Right now, you’re feeling lazy because you have a number of bases covered. How about you make a special effort to meet someone great online and other ways? You’ll probably feel so excited when you meet that great woman, you’ll just naturally drop the rest.
And get yourself tested — your booty caller is worrisome on that score.
