Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 31/12/2019 (2112 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: Please answer my letter on Dec. 31. My husband wants to make a baby on New Year’s Eve. I also think this is a romantic idea, but am well aware the timing of the month isn’t right for becoming pregnant.
I don’t want to spoil his happy project with my unfortunate reality, but I don’t know how to spin this so he can be happy when our timing is off.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the special love effort he’s going to put into making this baby! — New Year’s Eve Baby Plan? Downtown Winnipeg
Dear Baby Plan: You should suggest to your eager husband you can kick off a whole month of special baby-making activities on New Year’s Eve, which still makes it a special date — and leaves room for a margin of error.
Over New Year’s Eve dinner, plan out various fantasies you will try out to keep the month full of fun. You’re bound to hit your special time of the month within 30 days or so, and with any luck — kaboom!
You could call the baby Eve or Evan to honour the New Year’s Eve start of the long-term project. He must be aware it might easily take more than one month. Even if it takes three months, you might end up giving birth to a baby in January 2021. Whenever it happens it will be great!
As for drinking during this project, forget it. You’ll have to drink non-alcoholic fizzy beverages instead, as a baby-making project is serious business. There is no known safe amount of alcohol use during your pregnancy or when you are trying to get pregnant.
There is also no safe time to drink when you are pregnant or when you may be pregnant, but don’t know it yet.
Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My boyfriend and I are stuck at home New Year’s Eve because we’re out of money for tickets to the parties all over town.
It’s our first New Year’s Eve together, and we want to make it something more special than watching some old movie. What can we do to make it sexy, fun and a memory forever? — Broke But Loaded With Love, Winnipeg
Dear Broke But Loaded: Couples tend to love “Spa Night” at home, because it’s oh-so-private, and happy endings can occur!
First, you turn your place into an intimate bath, shower and massage spa. The massage room can be a candlelit bedroom or living room, with chair and sofa cushions to raise the bed or sofa height, plus big, thick towels over top of the cushions to soak up shower moisture and oils.
You’ll need sensual music in the background, not holiday tunes.
Wear robes or strategically placed towels as the masseur or masseuse for that little bit of mystery.
Give each other massages after a warm shower, so the “client” lying down at the time has just been transformed and relaxed by the soothing water.
You’ll want some exotic-smelling oils and also drinks and snacks.
Once you have relaxed and titillated each other with treatments (kitchen gadgets can be fun to try on the skin), your bodies will know what comes next, creating a natural climax.
If you are still awake at the witching hour, and want to watch wild ’n’ crazy people ring in 2020, catch local coverage and fireworks on TV or check out a broadcast of Times Square, which is always quirky and fun.
P.S.: New York City is one hour ahead of Winnipeg time.
