The MTS Centre will be home to more Cirque du soleil acrobatics this summer.
The downtown arena will play host to eight performances of Varekai from June 24 to 28.
Varekai, which means “wherever” in Romany language, is described as an extraordinary world that includes a volcano, a mystical forest and the adventure of Icarus.
Icarus was the mythical Greek character who was given wings made of feathers and wax by his father, Daedalus. Icarus flew too close to the sun, which melted his wings and he fell to the sea. In Varekai, Icarus also takes flight, thanks to Cirque du soleil aerial feats.
Varekai’s five-day run includes one show on June 24 and June 25, and two shows on June 26, 27 and 28. Tickets, which range in price from $49.75 to $134, are on sale at www.cirquedusoleil.com/varekai, Ticketmaster or by calling 1-855-985-5000.
