Hey there, time traveller!

It might be for just a week, it might be a full career but the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have settled on Justin Palardy as their new placekicker.
Bomber head coach Paul LaPolice announced after practice Tuesday that Palardy, the St. Mary’s University product, had won a mini-kicking competition over Warren Kean and will handle the chores this Thursday in Montreal against the Alouettes.
“We tracked every kick, we tracked every kickoff and they were very close… I believe Justin was a percentage point or two higher,” said LaPolice. “But one of the things that helps Justin’s cause is his ability to punt. It gives us a little bit of flexibility in that.”
Bomber punter Mike Renaud did miss a game earlier this year with a knee injury and has worn a brace on the joint since.
Palardy (5-11, 200) was the second-rated kicker heading into the 2010 Canadian Draft behind Rob Maver, selected in the first round by the Calgary Stampeders. Palardy was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the fifth round (36th overall) and appeared in five games this season as their punter (an average of 42.1 yards). He played four seasons at Saint Mary’s hitting on 65 of 84 (77.4 per cent) of his field-goal attempts. He kicked the third most field goals (65) and scored the fifth most points (320) in CIS history.
Palardy likely be challenged by import Louie Sakoda, who replaced Alexis Serna, after the bye week. Sakoda pulled a calf muscle in the hours leading up to last Friday’s loss to Hamilton.
