WINNIPEG — Who needs a ticket drive to sell tickets?
Not the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who announced this morning that they’ve reached the 18,800 mark for season tickets for the coming 2011 Canadian Football League campaign.
The new total eclipses the old mark of 18,642 tickets, which was achieved for the 2008 season following the Grey Cup appearance against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Not bad for a team coming off two straight non-playoff seasons and a 4-14 record in 2010, eh?
“What an exciting day for the Football Club and Bomber fans everywhere,” Bomber president Jim Bell said in a statement. “To be at a record high in season ticket sales is a testament to not only football fans in our province, but sports fans in general who have ignited this city with pride over the last few weeks.
“There are still two weeks left to purchase season tickets and we’re eager to see where that number will close. It’s been a long off-season and we’re looking forward to what the 2011 season will bring.”
The club reminds fans they have until June 23 to purchase season tickets for this year.
