Several downtown streets will be closed for Grey Cup festivities and the Santa Claus Parade this weekend.
The Cup closures have already started.
York Avenue is closed to eastbound traffic between Edmonton and Carlton streets until 9 a.m. Sunday. Young Street is closed between Portage and Ellice avenues until 9 a.m. Sunday. Spence Street is closed between Portage and Ellice until 8 a.m. Monday.
Several streets will be closed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday for the parade. Portage will be closed in both directions from St. Mary Avenue to Main Street. Northbound and southbound cross streets within that area will have limited access to Portage.

Southbound Main will be closed between McDermot Avenue and York. Portage Avenue East will be closed between Westbrook Street and Main. Westbound St. Mary will be closed from Edmonton to Memorial Boulevard.
Eastbound York will be closed from Colony Street to Memorial, and Osborne Street North/Memorial/Colony will be closed from Broadway to Ellice.
Northbound Main will close from William Stephenson Way to Portage for a short period in the late afternoon.
“There will be single-lane closures on several other streets over the weekend,” the City of Winnipeg said in a news release.
There will be limited parking lot access and no through traffic at Portage on the following streets until 10 p.m. Saturday:
- Fort Street (Graham Avenue to Portage)
- Garry Street (Ellice to Portage)
- Smith Street (St. Mary to Portage)
- Donald Street (Ellice to Portage)
- Hargrave Street (St. Mary to Portage)
- Carlton (Ellice to Portage)
- Edmonton (St. Mary to Portage)
- Kennedy Street (Portage to Graham)
- Vaughan Street (Portage to Graham)
