WINNIPEG — Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard promised Sunday to ban phosphorus in commercial dishwasher soap, create a set price for green energy and help employees get to work by greener means.

Gerrard unveiled his eco-platform Sunday at his River Heights campaign office.

He said a Liberal government would boost the existing ban on residential dishwashing soap with phosphorus to include the soap used by restaurants and institutions. And he would create a feed-in tariff like the one in Ontario that sets the lucrative price at which Manitoba Hydro will buy wind, solar or other green power. Gerrard suggested a reasonable benchmark might be the price of power produced by the new Wuskwatim dam.
