EDMONTON — The task will be a tall one. Actually, tall and short at the same time.

When it comes to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive front, the focus shifts automatically to tackles Doug Brown and Jerome Haywood.

“The trick is one is seven-foot-eight and the other is two-foot-three,” smiled veteran Eskimos offensive lineman Dan Comiskey.

Of course, Comiskey kids about Haywood’s diminutive stature, although he isn’t far off on the seven-foot-eight description of Brown, a division all-star and the East nominee as defensive player of the year. The two interior linemen actually measure up at six-foot-eight, 290 pounds and five-foot-eight, 285 pounds respectively.

“You know what, they’re just real tough across the board,” said Comiskey. “Doug Brown and I have been playing against each other for more than a couple of years now. It’s just one of those situations that there is no one I would rather be playing at this time of the year.”
