Hey there, time traveller!

One man’s totally subjective rankings of the eight CFL teams to date this season (last week’s rank in parenthesis):

1. (1) MONTREAL ALOUETTES (13-2) — Pushed to the limit by the Ticats but chalked up another ‘W.’

2. (2) SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (8-6-1) — Love all that Canadian talent getting it done on offence.

3. (3) CALGARY STAMPEDERS (8-6-1) — We’re picky… something just doesn’t seem right with the champs.

4. (4) B.C. LIONS (8-7) — A lot to like about this team right now. But Pierce is down… again.

5. (6) EDMONTON ESKIMOS (7-8) — Tough to get jacked up about a three-point win over the Argos.

6. (5) WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (6-9) — Good teams just don’t kiss away a gift like this bunch did.

7. (7) HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (6-9) — A lot of positives, but still a loss in Montreal.

8. (8) TORONTO ARGONAUTS (3-12) — Bad and boring is not an attractive combo.

JUICY NUMBER — 29

The total number of interceptions by the Bomber defence this year. That’s already the highest total by a CFL team since B.C. led the league with 36 picks in 2006 and the most by a Bomber squad since the ’94 outfit finished with 32.

FYI

Here’s the other side of the Steve Williams-Obby Khan dust-up from Sunday that saw the Lions tackle ejected for punching the Bomber centre in the chest: "On that play, it was a long pass. I was heading to the ball and (Khan) drove me down to the ground face-first," Williams told the Vancouver Province. "When I got up on my hands and knees, he elbow-dropped me in the back of the neck and kneed me in my behind."… Calgary RB Joffrey Reynolds rushed for over 100 yards for the 26th time as a Stampeder in last weekend’s tie with Saskatchewan. Only Earl Lunsford, with 28, has more in Calgary colours… CFL Gibson’s Finest players of the week were announced Tuesday and, for the first time in three weeks, there wasn’t a Bomber on the list. Although — get this — three ex-Bombers were selected: Ticat QB Kevin Glenn (offence), Saskatchewan D-lineman Stevie Baggs (defence) and teammate Jason Armstead (special teams). Rider receiver Andy Fantuz was the top Canadian.

SAY WHAT?!

"We’re like the people in Cuba who find spare parts for all those old ’59 Chevys." — B.C. GM and head coach Wally Buono on his team’s ability to find talent to replace injured players.

— Tait
