Hubbie’s first jab not a licence for risky behaviour

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My older husband has received just one of his vaccine shots and now he’s acting like a selfish fool.

Since receiving his shot, he’s been running around like Superman, letting his guard down. Recently he’s been finding places to go to drink (and eat) with his stupid brothers who are party boys from way back.

I understand people just want their lives back, but I’m still too young for shots and have health problems to do with breathing.

It’s extremely selfish of him to go out to different venues and potentially bring the COVID-19 virus home to me. He could still get it!

I told him his clothes will soon be packed and waiting for him on the front step. He just laughed.

I don’t speak to him when he comes home feeling amorous, with beer on his breath. I’m sleeping in another bedroom now.

By the way, forget counselling as he’s a Mr. Know-It-All. — Vulnerable Wife, River Heights

Dear Vulnerable: Put a mask on when he pulls into the driveway, if you want to protect yourself. He doesn’t care a lot about protecting you, so don’t be apologetic about it, just be firm about staying away from a guy who’s been out on the town.

Hand him one to wear as well. Too bad if he’s mad.

He’s taken his life back to normal social behaviour, even though it’s too soon — with only his first shot in his system and highly contagious variants in the province now.

An alarming number of people are saying, “It’s been too long and I’ve had enough.” But sadly, the virus hasn’t had enough of us yet.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My boyfriend and I had planned to get married this spring but that went by the wayside because of COVID-19, so we just moved in together.

The thing is, he doesn’t seem to love me in the same passionate way anymore. He hasn’t touched me in a month, not even to cuddle. I don’t like him as much either, although I guess deep down I probably still love him.

Last night he was obviously having a dream and kind of writhing in his sleep, saying another woman’s name and things like, “Oh baby, oh baby.”

I recognized the name of a woman he’s just started working with two months ago. I woke him up and he got upset and seemed emotional, and rolled to the other side of our bed.

In the morning I asked him about the incident. He got really red in the face and told me I was crazy. What now? — Sensing Something’s Up, Downtown

Dear Sensing: Embarrass yourself! Ask the questions about her that are on your mind, even if you feel like an idiot and it’s hard on your pride.

If he’s drifting away from you, it’s best to know, especially if you’re engaged. Luckily there are no wedding plans yet. If this relationship is coming unglued, this would be a good time to face that fact.

Looking the other way and saying “it’ll get better” won’t help anything. And besides — let’s be fair — you’ve been losing interest in him yourself.
