Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I have an old boyfriend knocking on my Facebook door and I’m ashamed I let him in. We had been sexting recently on our phones. I was being sneaky and now I’m sorry. He’s unhappily married, but I’m not, and that bothers him. Last night he let it be known he ran into my husband at a mall and got a kick out of talking to him because of the secret online sex we share.

That made me feel sick to my stomach — that this guy was laughing at my husband, and it was my fault. I automatically blocked him, and then he phoned my work to talk to me and find out why. I told him he had disrespected my husband and I wouldn’t be part of the reason he was laughing behind my man’s back.

Then he called me a bunch of names and I remembered what I didn’t like about him: If things don’t go well for him he’s got a nasty mouth. How do I get rid of him? He’s the persistent type. I’m afraid he’ll tell my husband.

Dear Bad Wife: It’s doubtful he’ll contact your husband — there is too much trouble that could result from from that — but he might continue to pester you until you get him stopped cold. You can usually block someone who’s harassing you on email and on the phone. So do it every which way you can, and only say, “Have to go,” and hang up on him when you are at work.
