Hey there, time traveller!

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I met a great looking woman at a concert six months ago and got her name and finally Facebooked her this week. She said she didn’t know who I was. I’ve done nothing but dream about her since the concert in the summer. I wrote a little more about meeting her and finally she said, “Oh yeah, I think I remember that.” Should I keep trying or leave it alone? She hasn’t said anything more than that.
— Let It Go? North Kildonan
Dear Let It Go: There are fast movers and slow movers, and then there are shy guys who miss the train altogether. You should not have let that small contact alone for longer than a week. You didn’t get in touch with her for six months, and she quite naturally forgot about you. Quick followup with a new person is important. She may have really liked you if she had gotten to know you after the concert, but now it feels like a stranger dropping from the big blue sky saying, “Hey! Remember me?”
Try one more time making a comment or two about some things on her Facebook page, and if she doesn’t reply, just let her go. Start looking for a similar lady, and this time speak up, even if you don’t feel very smooth doing it. Be friendly, ask questions, pay her a compliment and volunteer a little about yourself. If it doesn’t work, there are others like her. It’s not true that’s there’s no one else like her in the world. People can actually be divided into types as we are so often reminded on silly sitcoms. You really want her type, but you don’t necessarily need to have her.
