Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I had a few too many drinks and went calling on my old boyfriend. I'm amazed now that he let me in. I was even more amazed he invited me into his bedroom where he had been watching a sexy movie. One thing led to another and pretty soon we were doing the wild thing. I stayed over and slept in when he went to work.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I had a few too many drinks and went calling on my old boyfriend. I’m amazed now that he let me in. I was even more amazed he invited me into his bedroom where he had been watching a sexy movie. One thing led to another and pretty soon we were doing the wild thing. I stayed over and slept in when he went to work.

I fed his cat, from old habit, and let myself out. There was no note. He hasn’t called. What does that mean? He’s a polite man and I know I hurt him when we broke up because I told him he was boring after I had a few drinks. He’s not really boring. He’s comfortable and kind. I have no one in my life right now. Should I call him up and see what we can resurrect? At least he’s not boring in bed.

— Re-Thinking Him, Osborne Village

Dear Re-Thinking: Don’t do this poor guy any more favours. You got plastered and made a booty call. He knows you think he’s boring, and perhaps this was a case of any port in a storm for you. He was watching a sexy movie and when you appeared at his door, he couldn’t resist you. After all, that’s the one aspect of the relationship that was good.

Did you leave him a note? No, you just left. You’re a fairly insensitive person, so I’m going to be blunt: leave him alone now, for good! Just because you happen to be a little lonely doesn’t mean you should call him up and “resurrect” things. He may still have genuine feelings for you he needs to bury in the hopes of finding a new woman who appreciates his “comfortable” nature. Use your energy to do something about your drinking problem that fuels some of your bad decisions.
