Split beds up to avoid wife’s kicks

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My wife kicks me in the night when she has restless legs syndrome and sometimes it hurts so much I kick her back in my sleep. She refuses to go to the doctor about it and I don't know what to do. I know her legs do jump of their own accord, but one time I woke up and she had just hoofed me, and she was laughing. What do you think?

— Terrible Sleeps, River Heights

Dear Terrible Sleeps: I don’t think any couple should sleep badly, always in fear of being kicked. A home remedy for some lucky people with restless legs is to drink two glasses of water before bed. But, if you don’t trust your wife, and she’s never going to get help, buy two double beds. After making whoopee in the doubled bed, split the two beds a foot or two apart and sleep in peace and safety, both of you.
