Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My husband, who is a very sexual person, has found excuses not to have sex with me for a month now. Something is up, and it’s not him. My imagination is going crazy. I’m wondering if he strayed and caught some communicable disease, but I don’t want to say anything. He did stray once about five years ago and I caught him, and we almost broke up. What should I do?
— Scared and Frustrated, St. Boniface
Dear Scared: Say to him, “It’s been a month and you haven’t wanted to have sex with me. I miss making love and want to know what’s wrong,” If he stays silent, say: “Please tell me what’s going on with you. It’s better to know than not to know. We can work through whatever the problem is.” That should at least open the door to a discussion. Sometimes men go through periods of depression, stress, sexual malaise, hormone imbalance or erectile dysfunction. Unfortunately, sometimes the truth is they’ve found someone new and are being “true” to the new lover.
