Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I have to earn my way through university some way. My family has no money and my course workload is heavy. The only thing I’m good at, and need no training at, is making love to women, so I started seeing older women in different bars and would explain my situation — that I couldn’t afford to date anybody if I wanted to pursue the medical career I dream of.

Opinion

Hey there, time traveller!

One beautiful lady who really liked me, said she was lonely since her husband died young, and would appreciate it if I visited her weekly between classes. She said she would “pay for my gas.” She works from home, so the timing was flexible. So, I started driving over to her place more and more, and she paid me very generously “for my driving expenses.” Then one day she asked me how I’d feel about seeing someone else. This second woman was a distant friend of hers, but they were able to talk frankly, and she confessed about her time with me.

The second lady was divorced, her kids had just left home and she was “lonely for a man,” but didn’t want a commitment. She turned out to be beautiful, funny, great in bed and lives close to the university, so I can do a lot more studying, and between the two ladies, I have no need to get a part-time job to make the rent. It has been working for a couple of months. Unfortunately, while drunk at a New Year’s party, the first woman told another person who told others there. One woman who heard about my services accused my lady of seeing a male prostitute.

My lady told me about the incident later, while crying. Oddly enough, it really hurts me too. I didn’t need to be called names and this could hurt me if my name got around too far. What can I do?

— Everything About to Crumble, Winnipeg

Dear Everything About to Crumble: Unfortunately, making sexual house calls for money amounts to prostitution, even if it’s done in a genteel sort of way. That’s the chance you took — that someone would call you on it. It’s time to cut off relations with the two ladies before you get busted. You’ll need a straight part-time job now doing something else, perhaps in or near the university where you study. It was convenient while it lasted, but it isn’t legal and you don’t want to get a reputation for this kind of “work” if you have plans for a medical career.
