Hey there, time traveller!

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I’m currently in custody. I’ll be out in the middle of May. I only get out of my cell eight hours a day and I’m on the phone with my girlfriend almost the whole time. We argue practically the whole conversation until the end before I have to go back to lockup again. Then we have the best last minute call time.
After I get off the phone, all the guys tease me and bug me. How do I get them off my back? And how do I get her in a good mood the whole eight hours? By the way, I don’t think she cheats on me. We just argue about the little things.
— Help Please! Manitoba
Dear Help: Everyone gets testy after being on the phone too long because there’s nothing to talk about unless you find things to discuss, or in your case, to fight about. People on the outside would drive each other crazy if they talked on the phone eight hours a day. It isn’t natural and makes people cranky. The last-minute conversations are how you really feel, so say goodbye earlier and more often, and don’t talk so long, then everything will got better between you.
It sounds like you may be keeping her on the phone so she has no time to talk to anybody else. Are you that insecure about her? And it’s no wonder people tease you. Do they listen to your side of the bickering, or do they just see you looking totally exhausted after going another marathon round of fighting on the phone?
