Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 05/09/2018 (2970 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My brother’s wife is a conniving witch and I need to regain the upper hand from her before she wrecks our whole family. She’s like a worm that got under the skin, spreading infection.
She is using information from our brother to drive our family apart. We were always close, but now things seem to be falling apart.
She instigated a fight with my younger sister by spreading a story about my older sister cheating on her husband. She did cheat on him years ago, but this interfering woman has exhumed the old mess. She’s making it out like it’s news again, and it’s not.
This witch I’m talking about just loves to dig up dirt and be the centre of gossip. Yesterday, she had the nerve to bring up this story again about my sister cheating on her husband. I turned around and tore a strip off her! Now my brother (her husband) is furious with me because she holds the power in that relationship and gets to dole out the sex.
My dear old Mennonite mom was in tears the other day over this nasty woman. I just want to go over there and slap that gossip silly. My husband has been holding me back — but he hates her too. Only her husband seems to love her anymore. Please help!
— Angry and Ready to Fight Her, Steinbach
Dear Ready To Fight: She shouldn’t get away with undermining your family. But slapping her or fighting her verbally will not help and could invite a visit from the police. Ganging up on her might work, though.
Call a family dinner but don’t invite your older sister and her husband. Then tell your conniving sister-in-law that none of you care about old gossip, that everything worked out in the end and you resent she brought it up. She and her husband may leave in a huff, but so what? They both need to know you will not allow her to undermine the love and loyalty in your family and the ability to forgive past heartaches.
Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: This man I’ve been flirting with online sent me a picture of his male parts. I was shocked! Then he wrote and said it was all a joke and he got it off the internet.
The thing is I still have the copy. He told me awhile ago he had a small tattoo in a private area of his body and I see that exact same cartoon character in this picture. This guy is very funny and I get along with him really well, but my girlfriends are all warning me he’s probably a scary weirdo. What do you think? I’m kind of curious to meet him.
— Wild Thing, Downtown
Dear Wild Thing: This internet “friendship” has started off in a weird, low place. If you and this guy knew each other as lovers and were dating and trading silly sex pictures, this might be acceptable, but you haven’t even met him in person.
Let’s hope you didn’t send him any private photos of your own that he could post on the internet in a minute.
Time to shut him down. He’s a bit of a weirdo — funny as you find him to be — and could cause you real problems. Why court trouble for yourself?
If you have are having a problem of a personal nature, please send your letters to Miss Lonelyhearts at lovecoach@hotmail.com
