Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I found out today from my kids I’m going to be on my ex-husband’s New Year’s resolution list for 2016, as in “Get rid of ex-wife.” He’s going to shut me out completely — no phone calls, no discussion about our teenagers, who live with him. He told me before Christmas he’d no longer discuss anything when I’m drinking and I promised to quit. But there’s a lot of pressure at work. Please help. I still love him so much. — Rejected Wife & Mother, Downtown

Dear Rejected: It appears 2016 is the year you must also put him on your No Contact list. He doesn’t want to have anything more to do with you because of your drinking. So don’t try to contact him until two months after you’ve quit. I’m guessing you have called him way too much. If you have anything he needs to know, from now on, relay it through the kids or through your lawyer. As for your problem drinking, it’s time to see a shrink about the reasons why you don’t want to quit. If you can remove them, you might have a chance at methods of quitting, such as Alcoholics Anonymous.
