Line-cutters annoying, but not the end of civilization

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts:  Are you kidding me? In reaction to Feeling Sorry for the Kid, you told the lady who wrote that the complainer should “let it go by” when a woman used the old “kid needing to pee” excuse, to cut the line at a store in Fort Richmond.

What is this mother teaching her kid? There are public bathrooms in these stores in Fort Richmond. She should have used one before getting in line. I would have pointed them out to her. That would have been the proper way to handle it.

No wonder Canada and Fort Richmond have become a piece of (crap).

People are not being made to make themselves responsible anymore. Someone needs to show them. I’m surprised we let them walk the streets! So sad. — Disgusted D., Winnipeg

Dear D.: This little boy outed his mother in the lineup by saying he did not have to “go pee,” and that mom “always says that” to cut in.

I said the right move was to let the incident go, because it only wasted a few more minutes for people, and that child was probably going to “get it” when they got to the car.

Booting them to the back of the line would have made it worse for him, and he was the good guy for telling the truth.

By the way, your assessment of Canada and Fort Richmond is unnecessarily harsh!

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I feel super-betrayed. These are COVID times and I think the least you can do when you dump a girlfriend is to end it formally instead of sneaking around with another woman (actually more than one) until you get caught.

I just found out I have been played for a fool big time, in these very scary times.

The price? I’m isolating myself for two weeks, because I don’t know if he might have passed on COVID before he left. I only found out because an embarrassed friend of his squealed on him.

There may have been others too; people are hinting strongly about that.

He was acting mighty restless and resentful of restrictions on his freedom in the world. What a big baby!

I’m well rid of him, but am I truly rid of him health-wise? Only time will tell. I’m feeling lousy, but it may be because of the breakup. Is there any way to get even? — Fighting Mad, North Winnipeg

Dear Fighting Mad: Get tested for the COVID-19 if you have symptoms, and don’t be ashamed if you have it.

Don’t keep this cheater’s name a secret from contact tracers, either. Let friends know how he cheated on you, too!

Women of 2020 will not find him attractive. Nothing casts a pall on a guy like finding out he’s irresponsible about the partner(s) he sleeps with, irresponsibly taking chances on spreading coronavirus and other problems.
