Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: My husband and I had another fight over the remote. He grabbed it as usual and changed what I was watching. I snatched it out of the side of the chair and changed it back.

I’m sick and tired of our life being all his sports and violent shows. We have a small home, and the two recliners in the living room are in front of the big noisy TV that dominates the house. My husband declares control is rightfully his because he bought the TV and sound system years ago before he even knew me. Yesterday, I went out and bought my own universal remote and late last night, he stole it and hid it. I don’t know where to find it now and I’m so mad I can hardly type. Grrr. There’s no sex for him until I get it back. Please help!

Dear Battling: You need to buy a second smaller TV for another room, and use your money this time. Put it the bedroom where you can be cosy and watch whatever you want, then the King of TV can sit out there in the living room in his chair. If he wants you to come sit beside him, then you can decide if you want to be staring at what he’s staring at, or you can change it. Both of you should be able to have a remote in hand and ask each other first if it’s OK to change it.

But it’s time you two got out of this screen-obsessed rut anyway. Suggest going out for dinner or a comedy club or to dance with another couple or two. Maybe go skating or walking in the snow. If your man doesn’t want to go, ask other friends. Start living again instead of watching other people live on a screen. And what happened to sex as an exciting home adventure? Bring home a bag of toys that have their own clickers!

Bombers coach happy to be back at work after backbreaking loss to Argos

Taylor Allen 6 minute read Tuesday, Sep. 29, 2026

It’s the first practice day after a backbreaking loss.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are in a challenging predicament with four games remaining — starting Saturday on the road against the Montreal Alouettes (11-3) — that leaves their playoff aspirations far from solidified.

And yet, head coach Mike O’Shea makes his way behind the podium, looks out at a room of reporters and is grinning ear to ear.

Why so happy?

Acquisition of former residential school grounds will help educate future generations: premier

Connor McDowell and Morgan Modjeski 5 minute read Tuesday, Sep. 29, 2026

Premier Wab Kinew says a former Brandon-area campground acquired by the province will help educate future generations about the horrors of residential schools.

“We live in an era where people are trying to deny what happened in residential schools,” Kinew said during a Tuesday afternoon visit to Turtle Crossing Campground, near the former Brandon Indian Residential School. “It’s an important part of our national history, and keeping that truth alive.”

Kinew officially announced the province’s plan Tuesday, in partnership with the City of Brandon, to acquire and protect the site where the bodies of more than 50 Indigenous children are located.

The premier said the property has “huge national significance” for education about residential school history because it is one of the “most documented” in the country. He carried photographs, and some 20th century newspaper clippings from the Brandon Sun around the site Tuesday.

Woman took ‘meaningful’ responsibility after disposing of body: lawyer

Dean Pritchard 4 minute read Yesterday at 6:00 AM CDT

A woman who was threatened with death if she didn’t help dispose the body of a Mexican man murdered in the basement of a North End home should serve no more jail time, a judge has been told.

Devlin Langlois, 25, has pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder in the March 2025 killing of 28-year-old Diego Moscoza.

“By pleading guilty, Ms. Langlois has already taken meaningful accountability for her actions,” defence lawyer Joshua Rogala told King’s Bench Justice Candace Grammond at a sentencing hearing Monday.

He urged the judge to sentence Langlois to the equivalent of 14 months already served, plus two years supervised probation.
